Coming Bank Holiday Controls

LHR Road Check Point Policia LocalWe have the May-Day, bank holiday coming up so the entry points to Almuñécar and La Herradura will be heavily controlled by the Policía Local.

As before, the N-340 roundabouts for the A-7 exits will have checkpoints waiting for people sneaking down from Granada and further away.

These controls will be in place from Thursday the 30th of April through to Sunday the 3rd of May, inclusive. There will also be checkpoints to catch people coming down the Cabra or Suspiro road (Otívar road).

“Although these road checkpoints have been in place several weeks and that there are now few people coming down to move into their secondary place of residence, we cannot lower our guard,” explained Mayor Herrera.

She concluded by reminding locals that if they see somebody breaking the confinement restrictions or having moved into previously unoccupied accommodation to contact the Guardia Civil or the Policía Local.

Editorial comment: snooping on your neighbours does leave a bad taste in your mouth and is reminiscent of dictatorial regimes, but on the other hand, this isn’t about somebody simply breaking the law; it’s about others increasing your  family’s possibility of becoming infected.

The Mayor’s point is valid and important, we cannot let our guard down. The only way to successfully get through the upcoming 4 phases as proposed would be to continue being disciplined and follow the rules. It is about preventing/minimizing the possibility of becoming infected and spreading it again. We’re headed in the right direction, but not out of the woods yet.
