Spare A Thought

SPN Surgical Masks that Permit Lip ReadingWhilst we might find that wearing a surgical mask when you step outside your house is a pain, spare a though for the deaf.

Yes, because many deaf people need to lip read but when everybody around them has their mouth covered up, it’s an impossible task. It is equivalent to the rest of us suddenly not being able to see because the mask fits over our eyes and not just our mouth & nose.

For this reason, the Agrupación de Personas Sordas de Granada y Provincia (Asogra) is asking for transparent masks to be made available – with a sort of window over your lips.

“We understand that in some places they already make them but they have not been officially approved, explained the Chairwoman of the said association, Guadalupe Cuerva.

This is obviously not just a whimsical request because the present situation is just heaping more stress on the people who already have enough problems communicating.

Sra. Cuerva pointed out that Granada has 17,000 people with hearing impairment.
