As you can imagine, with the initial panic-buying assault and its follow up, Mercadona and other supermarket chains are happy bunnies.
In the case of Mercadona it is working flat out with the tills at the check out starting to smoulder.
For this reason this Valencia-based supermarket chain is offering employment to young workers with a salary of 1,800 euros a month after four years on permanent contracts.
The starting salary is 1,338 euros for shop floor, distributors, maintenance and warehouse workers. This salary increases each year until the fourth year is reached with its 1,811 euros per month.
But before you break out the party hats and farting cushions, recruitment is taking place in Sevilla, Madrid, Cuenca, León, Barcelona, Toledo, Cantabria, Gerona, Guadalajara, Lugo, Orense Zaragoza, Teruel, Cáceres, Badajoz, Valencia and Valladolid… not Granada.
Mercadona already has nearly 90,000 employees on their books in Spain and Portugal, as well as a good deal of my shopping funds.
