Inefficient Barriers

SAL Inefficient BarriersThe Salobreña branch of the Partido Popular has criticised the ruling party for wasting public money on something that doesn’t work, they consider.

They are referring to the wooden posts along the road water channel running along the back road that connects La Caleta to Avenida Mediterraneo via La Guardia.

“They’re not barriers and they don’t provide any extra safety. They’re wobbly and in places the rope is hanging off,” complained party Spokesman, Sr. Aybar.

Furthermore, he considers that they create a serious problem; the posts are kept in place by large nails so that if the post is missing, the nails protrude.

For good measure he complained that the water channel is full of drink can, plastic bottles and other litter, so the Mayor should get the person in charge to clean it up.

Editorial comment: the posts are not there to prevent somebody falling or driving into the water channel but rather to indicate where the border of the channel is – the channel is out of view for the driver but with the posts there, he or she can see where the lip of the channel is.

The posts could be better secured? Yes, of course – if you are going to do a job, do it correctly. Even so, you get the impression that opposition parties, no matter political slant they have, spend their time looking for things to complain about… until they get into power and then their interest is spotting defects disappears.
