New Rubbish-Collection Rules

PEC ALM Rubbish CollectionAlmuñécar Councillor for The Environment, Luis Aragón, met with representatives of block communities from Taramay and Velilla to explain new rubbish-collection rules beginning this month. The change over is already happening but must be completed by the 15th of March.

The following day, the 16th, wheelie bins will no longer be emptied from Las Góndolas, Velilla, Príncipe de Asturias Taramay, Tesorillo and Cabria; areas that all correspond to Phase One of the new system.

Instead of using their own wheelie bins, block janitors must use the municipal grey hoppers, which are found next to the ones for plastic (yellow) paper (blue) and glass (green).

“This is the trial run for the 80 to 90, new grey-band containers, which are larger than the others. They are easier to empty because the whole of the top can be opened,” explained the councillor, adding, “their pleasant curved form fits in better, aesthetically, with different surroundings.” Another thing is that they automatically close so they can’t be left open stinking the place out.

The rubbish collection round will continue to be between 20.00h and 23.00h.
