Motril Town Budget Approved

MOT Budget ApprovedA Plenary Meeting of the Motril Municipal Council finally approved the 2020 Budget with 15 votes in favour, one abstention and three against.

The budget, which is the first to be approved since the 2015 one, amounts to a whopping 57,118,391 euros and 62 cents.

It received a draft approvl on the 13th of November and then underwent 15 working days in public exposition during which time it received 43 complaints, of which eleven were partially included in modifications.

The majority of the income comes from direct taxes and rates, 35.3m euros or 62% of the total income. Another 20 million come from payments made by the Central and Regional Governments.

A quick explanation: Impuestos (taxes) and Tasas (rates) are distinguished by the fact that the latter is paid in return for a specific service whilst the former are not.

As for expenses, Personnel expenses and social services account for 77.43% of the total. Another 3.8m goes to paying off three bank loans. Clubs and associations get 6.8m

Lastly, the municipal market and the Fábrica del Pilar, plus improvements to the adminstrative functions via internet receive around a million each, whilst the Parque de los Pueblos de América gets 1.5m. There’s even, 8,000 euros for improvements to the municipal archives
