The Marina project for Playa Granada has taken another important step towards becoming reality – the Junta de Andalucía has come out in support of the idea.
The fact is that Granada is bringing up the rear in the quantity of marina berths available amongst all the provinces in Spain with a coastline. Even Sevilla, which is not on the coast has more berths than the Province of Granada.
The Marina del Este in La Herradura and the Club Náutico de Motril have a total of 395 berths between them, which is paltry considering that Andalucía has over 20,000, which is why the Junta has offered its “maximum collaboration” with the private development companies involved in the inland marina on Playa Granada.
The project involves letting in seawater to flood some 100,000 sq/m of privately owned land behind Playa Granada between the Camping on Playa Poniente to the Punta del Santo on Playa Granada. The 45m-euro investment includes two hotels, restaurants, leisure areas, parking and residential zones.
