Somebody is actually making camper-van users welcome instead of shunning them; Canillas de Albaida has created a parking area for them.

This small village, right in the middle of a natural park (Parque Natural de las Sierras Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama) wants tourists and what better tourist than the ones that bring their own accommodation if the village has little to offer!

The parking area will have space for 22 caravans or campervans, thanks to a budget of some 48,000 euros, received as a grant from the Provincial Council of Málaga.

The land, which is municipal property and covers about 2,500 square metres, will be fully adapted within three months.

However, there is a snag… it’s a parking area, not a camping one, which means that you can’t get tables and chairs out. But even so, it is a huge step forward when compared with the coastal towns of Costa Tropical, where they are not even allowed to park without running the risk of getting fined.
