Two men were arrested in Almuñécar, accused of bag snatching in La Herradura and making a false statement.
According to the Guardia Civil, the two men, aged 37 and 40, carried out the mugging around 00.30h on the 13th (last Friday).
Wearing pasamontañas (balaclavas) and full-face motorbike helmets, they approached the victim and yanked her handbag from her shoulder. The victim, the proprietor of a bar/restaurant, had 1,500 euros in it at the time.
Such was the force used that the woman had to be treated in the medical centre in Almuñécar.
Before being taken to the medical centre the Guardia Civil questioned her at the scene of the crime and after inspecting the area found an abandoned moped/scooter.
The next day, one of the suspects went round to the Guardia Civil post to claim that his bike had been stolen two days previously but further investigation uncovered that the vehicle owner was one of the two muggers.
Both men were from the the municipality of Almuñécar.
