Motril will be bringing in stiffer dumping fines after the cleaning crews had to pick up 31 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish in just over a week.
The rubbish was collected between the 5th and 14th of July from the town’s dumping, black spots around the outskirts of the municipality.
Old furniture, white goods, pieces of wood… you name it, all of which had simply been dumped, as if pixies and elves would scoop it all up and whisk it away before dawn. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, we have total guarros amongst us.
These black spots are, the entrance into Barrio El Pilar, the Vadillo Trading Estate, the old-tyre recycling plant on the Ronda de Poniente, the Parque de las Provincias, the area in front of Lejías Vidoy next to the football pitch areas around Ventillas.
Mayor Luisa García Chamorro (who, by the way, has held the Mayoralty twice although she has only been elected to this post once – sneaky, eh) said that they would be altering the local bylaws in order to bump up the maximum fine amount. No mention was made as to how much, but you can expect it to be very ‘ouch’ worthy.
