The lastest report issued by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) on the standard of living in Spain’s municipalities wasn’t good for Almuñécar.
Yes, Almuñécar is within the bottom 50 as far as living conditions go, but it is not the only municipality within the province contained in this glooming statistic because Loja is along for the ride, as well.
The report takes into account the average yearly income figure for the municipalities’ inhabitants. Thus the average resident of Loja earns 7,809 per year, just 449 euros less that the average Almuñécar resident with its 7,360-euro figure.
The poorest municipalities in Spain are: Níjar (Almería), with 6,253 euros, Palacios y Villafranca (6,550), Alhaurín el Grande (6,629), Vícar (6,634) and Isla Cristina (6,823).
The municipalities with the highest per capita are: Pozuelo de Alarcón (25,957), Boadilla del Monte (19,702), Las Rozas (19,340), Sant Cugat del Vallés (19,151) and Majadahonda (18,624).
So, there you go! Time to pack your bags, dear Almuñequeros, and move to Pozuelo de Alarcón!
