A UK law court has sentenced a 40-year-old British pedophile, captured in Spain and handed over, to a 23-year, jail sentence.

The condemned man, who was on the UK’s most-wanted list since 2015, was arrested in July last year in Granada, where he had been passing himself off as an English teacher giving classes in his home.

At the moment of arrest, Mr Hayes, who had been living under a false identity here, was wanted on nine counts of serious sexual abuse of minors in the UK. During his time in Spain he also allegedly carried out another three acts of sexual abuse on minors.

The trial of Daniel David Hayes in the UK received wide media coverage, which concluded with the sentencing and the judges summing up, describing Mr Hayes activity as the “most atrocious deprevation.”
