The Contracting Committee at the Almuñécar Town Hall examined the bids for the renovation work on the main Tourist Office, Palacete de La Najarra.
The committee then decided to award the work contract to Estudios y Ejecuciones S.A. with a budget of just under 97,000 euros.
The company has 33 years of experience in restoration work both on military and civilian buildings, as well as industrial complexes.
When the Town Hall put the project up to bidding the conditions were a maximum budget of 129,591 euros and with a works duration of three months. Therefore with the quantity offered by the winning company, the town-hall coffers saves themselves 32,600 euros.
Having said that, the bill is being footed by the Junta de Andalucía through a grant system for tourism-orientated municipalities.
The exterior of the building has already been done up so this renovation work comprises of the gardened area, an overhaul of the electrics in the whole building and the modification of public toilets so that they can be adapted for people with mobility problems.
The Palacete de la Najarra, together with its gardens and the Casa de Juegos (Wendy house) are catalogued as historic buildings therefore deteriorated parts of the building will be removed, restored and then placed back in their original settings. Damaged materials that cannot be restored will be replaced with similar-looking materials.
