A fire broke out around midday in the Gorgoracha area above Motril. The high winds are making it very difficult to control and put the fire out.

At the moment there are 56 personnel from Infoca tackling the blaze, which is in the Paraje Rijana area backed by four environmental personnel and a medical team just in case there are injuries.

However, other sources put the fire on Cerro Gordo which is on the Motril-Vélez Benaudalla municipal border.

The Motril fire service is also lending assistance to the Infoca team. These human resources are also backed by five fire trucks and a helicopter.
