Roadworks began yesterday morning on the autovía that connects Granada to the Costa Tropical (A-44), affecting the Otívar and Padul turn off.
Traffic heading down to the coast is being diverted over to the upcoming lanes, meaning that traffic flow is reduced to just one lane in either direction – tail backs are expected. This roadwork will close down about four kilometres of autovía.
The autovía from exit 139 (La Malaha) will be closed off and drivers wishing to reach Padul or Otívar will be detoured along the old N-323. This work, by the way, is in connection with the projected, second, Granada ring road or bypass.
This situation will be prolonged until the 15th of March with the exception of the Día de Andalucia, bank holiday when it will be reopened to avoid traffic congestion.
According to the Ministerio de Fomento, work crews will be doing shifts so that the work can proceed 24/7.
