The businesses going up on the shopping centre next to Al Campo in Motril are beginning to open their doors.
The first one to open for business is Decathlon, who will inaugurated this new branch between the 10th and 14th of December.
Less than a week later it will be the turn of Mercadona, who are moving their supermarket from Barrio Las Angustias to this new location.
So that’s two inaugurations in December but there is also one in January: JSYK, which sells household goods such as mattresses, furniture and interior décor. It’s the largest Danish retailer operating internationally with its 2,586 stores in 50 countries.
Fortunately, the new, shopping centre is going to have a second roundabout, which will give access to the Barrio del Pilar; the housing on the opposite side of the road.
But that’s not all because the Junta approved the environmental-impact study insisting on two conditions:
* Pedestrian access; i.e., a path, connecting it to the other shopping areas, as far as McDonald’s, running in front of Al Campo.
* A third traffic lane is to be added passing in front Al Campo to improve traffic flow entering both shopping areas.
So there you have it; two roundabouts, a third traffic lane and pedestrian access long enough to land a 747 on.
