The Policía Local in the city of Granada arrested a 16-year-old youth for snatching the bag of a German tourist, dragging her along the ground until she had lost grip of it.
The mugging took place in the early hours of the 24th when the victim, a 23-year-old German woman, was walking through the Barrio del Albaicín. Two assailtants jumped her; one from behind whilst the other approached her head on.
The woman immediately reported the incident to a police patrol in the area and thanks to the description that she provided, as well as the direction in which they had fled, the police caught up with one of the suspects on Calle Elvira.
The youth didn’t have the handbag on him so the police searched for it, finding it in a nearby street with a broken strap and minus here mobile and money. The other thief got away.
The youth is a 16-year-old living in a juvenile welfare home in the city.
