A 5-year-old British boy drowned in a private swimming pool belonging to a tourist residency in Nerja on Tuesday. The family had been spending their  holidays there.

According to the emergency-services number, 112, the incident was reported around 18.00h, Tuesday the 23rd by a witness who said that a boy had been retrieved from a swimming pool on Avenida Rodríguez Acosta, unconscious and not breathing.

The ambulance crew kept up CPR until 20.30h but without success. The coroner later certified the time and place of death, giving permission for the body to be taken to Granada for an autopsy.

The dwelling where the accident took place is a recent build; two blocks with several tourist apartments with the use of two pools; one for each building. At least dozen family and relatives were staying, including parents, sons and daughters and grandchildren.
