SPN Reading GlassesYou might not know it but it is illegal to drive wearing reading glasses, even if it’s only so that you can see the dashboard.

In fact, if you do need glasses to drive (prescription glasses) you have to have a spare set in your glove compartment – you can be fined if you don’t have a spare set in your car.

“90% of the information that we receive when we are driving is visual,” said the Head of the DGT, Salvador Alsina, adding, “there is a link between bad eyesight and 59% of road accidents.”

Furthermore, over-the-counter, reading glasses are really just dual magnifying glasses and are not a substitute for going to an optician to get your vision checked.
