You could say that he is branching out with his curtain and awning business… hoping to attract clients from out of the area.

Actually, it is a protest because the plot is on a Motril trading estate and he (and many others) consider that there is a serious lack of attention from the Town Hall as far as clearing rubbish and excess vegetation from empty plots is concerned.

Well, José Luis certainly has got people’s attention and La Algaidas industrial estate down near Playa de Poniente in Motril is on everyone’s lips.

So, there stands his 1,289 sq/m plot of land, empty, apart from a nice blue sign announcing that it is for the exclusive parking of UFOs… or just one really big one.

How did he come up with the idea? The fact is that this trading estate is a bit of a flop – the plots are being sold off cheaper than what it cost to lay out the roads etc. – so he thought that there was no way anybody from around there would buy it – better try further afield… Oh, and because he has always be fascinated by Martians, UFOs and the likes of ET, of course.

He bought up the domain name, Ovn.is (Objeto Volante No Identificado, or UFO) hoping that a company specialising in UFO merchandising might be interested in it.
