    Patrick,

If you go to the following site & scroll down you can listen to the British Ambassador’s interview in full. Dated 2nd. June.

Martin. I’m not that British or a Towney.
At a guess although I don’t peek through curtains. They must feed the dogs morning and evening. The noise isn’t a issue. I guess I’m more aware of it. Sitting outside in the early evening. I do dislike the way animals can be treated here.
But thank you for your usual advice.

  4. June 5, 2022 at 8:08 pm

Patrick: if you are concerned about the welfare of the dogs, then you could try the municipal dog home, if it is about the noise, then the Policía Local. If you do approach the police about the noise, they will tell you that you have to make a formal denuncia, but if you tell them that you are concerned that they are being neglected, then they will have to take a look without you having to make a denuncia.

    Martin.
Who do I ring if I’m concerned about dogs at a casa up the hill opposite myself. Without being condemning if a whole nation. Dogs there are howling a lot. I don’t mind that. But I do not see anyone coming to and fro. I’m concerned about the feeding and watering
I know . Nosey Brit etc.

Patrick does not quite state what you said. The British Ambassador Hugh Elliot is hopeful of a deal being struck soon.

Martin. A breakthrough it seems on the driving license saga. You will be able to exchange your license from a UK one to a Spanish one. No issues. or driving test. !!
Well apart from having a NIE. Padron. Residencia. provable regular income and private health care. If under 66. !!
Apparently will have six months to sort it out. Better then no driving. ??
So now just the three month rules. !!

  11. June 1, 2022 at 7:25 am

Patrick: I say days off but I mean the three days a month that the magazine is at the printers – a gap when I’ve finished putting the mag together and when I have to start the distribution. However, as the online continues 365 days a year… there’s no days off from that, lol! The mag comes out today and let distribution begin!!!

Patrick: Sorry, Pat but I have been enjoying my three days off – they end tomorrow when the mag comes out 😉

Sorry Martin. My questions to you maybe not suitable for this portal.
You’re not a politician. Thank the gods. Just a person juggling with people’s questions and whinges. So although my questions to me may seem important or valid. I’d be quite happy for them to be stopped. Ok. ??

Martin. Your opinion if you can.
At this time if from the EU. I can stay in the UK for up to 6 months. ?? As opposed to 3 months at a time from here.
Oddly and another bone of contention. With a valid driving license. I can drive up to 12 months in the UK.
Is it me or does that seem a little one sided.
About the driving license situation. A sticking point seems to be access to the DVLA data base. No idea why. As when I exchanged my UK licence for a Spanish one. He checked online. At Granada.
But unlike the UK. They do here after 65 insist on medicals and a blooming awkward for me driving test on a machine. Hence too I have to carry spare glasses in my car .Whereas I believe in the UK . You should advise DVLA of any medical issues that might affect your driving ability. So if you have to exchange or want to. The medical will hit you. So it would be of benefit to lots of people not to exchange . But keep the UK licence. Of course I’m forgetting that to exchange you also have to obtain the Residencia. Which after 6 months maybe you should have. But heaven forbid the Hacienda might get a sniff. So an opinion ?
I’m not playing holier then thou. Just amazed that apparently thousands haven’t or couldn’t exchange for whatever reason or still want to drive as if they were still in the UK.!! I will understand if you tell me I’m a windup git.!

Patrick: Franco lives on the other side of the Moon in a bathtub and regulary plays dominoes with Elvis. Franco apologism is not dead… it just smells a little. Anyway do please advise me if I’m either very wrong in some of my statements or just obnoxious. I prefer the latter.

At the Al Campo petrol station in Motril the system for some time has been that you have to enter the total amount that you want to pay on the pump, or give the person on the till cash on account and they give you the change once you have filled up. I normally do the latter, but last week I was told that in those circumstances the 20% discount would not be applied and I would have to pay the amount shown at the pump. Is this correct?

  30. April 17, 2022 at 7:22 am

Paul: An excellent question and one I will look into, 😉

I have just been reading about the 20 cents government reduction on the price of petrol. It was saying that the pump price is without the discount and that the reduction is done manually when you pay in the shop.
What happens with ‘pay with card at the pump’ locations?

    Dear Editor,
I would like to know how La Herradura came to have such a dangerous double bus and pedestrian ‘circus’ at the traffic lights just off the highway. While waiting for buses I have seen walkers rush for safety as cars go around the circle out of town. And various near crashes as cars turn the circle into town. Let alone the build up, on a steep hill, at the traffic lights. Whose idea was this traffic/car/bus/pedestrians /dogs and hitchhiker arrangement? What brilliant minds drew it out? And might la Herradura not be treated to something less dangerous and more fit for purpose on the town planning front?
Genuine questions by the way, not just narky.

The situation involving motor homes at The Torrox area has been resolved.
A small open area near The Sara apartments. One road back from the seafront at Salobrena . Now hosts a multitude of campers. I’m sure they will place their effluent in a safe place.

Patrick: yes, I saw it (I live on Costa Aguilera) but I thought that yet another fire on Salobreña vega was just too repetitive to report… After all, we don’t want to end up being known as the Pyro-Gazette.

Big brush fire in the Campo by Salobrena yesterday. Big enough for me to see the flames . From up on the hill by the Monte. Anyway lots of smoke and for some reason a fire engine drove away. Even though there were still flames. Maybe ran out of water.?
A friend suggested they light the fires to get at the wild pigs. I’d rather eat them.??

Morning! I picked up my copy of the February issue in Olivares this week as I usually do. I was surprised that I knew 99% of the pub quiz answers but somehow the questions seemed very familiar, in a recent sense. It was niggling at me until I looked and discovered they were the same questions as in the January issue, just in a different order. Disappointed to learn that I am not such a “clever bastard” after all! ??

it seems incredibly complicated to know how to pay a parking ticket in
Almunecar that is mailed to you. Would you be so kind as to write a story that helps us know how to do it.

  42. January 11, 2022 at 4:05 pm

Patrick, if your remarks offend somebody, then perhaps they should get a life. This is a satirical-style magazine and we aim to tell the news but with humour.

There is nothing vaguely offensive in your comments. Like all comments sent by readers, I read them first and if there is something offensive, it doesn’t get published, so if yours are up and visible on the site, it is because there’s nothing wrong with them.

We, like just about every other webiste, get bombarded by spam, which never makes it through and only those pushing an agenda (Bill Gates is really a giant lizard which has invaded our flat-earth planet in order to surf chem trails and control our minds) don’t get published.

God knows that half the article are depressing, covering accidents, deaths, pandemics etc, so if we can bring a smile to our readers’ faces, then mission accomplished 😉

Martin. Please forgive my odd sense of humour. Being by myself with 3 cats is difficult. My partner has been in the UK since July. For a private hip operation. Having had three NHS consultant meetings cancelled and waited 18 months just to see him. To ok the operation. Same NHS consultant did the private operation. !! Sadly there have been other medical issues. So we now seem to be over the worst. Looking like a February return. My remarks are meant in jest so I hope I don’t offend.

Please check this out and a warning to others…. I heard that a Danish man was robbed of his Rolex watch violently in Monte Los Amendros earlier this week. Two women targeted him in La Herradura and followed him drive home and attacked him before he could get out of his car.

The rules are reviewed every 7 days so if your friends went prior to 22nd then the rules could have been different. The link below is the official website of the people who make the rules so it will be updated for your date of travel.

Yes the incidence rate is the rate in your autonomous community. There is no person sitting in the airport with a list of every village in Spain and seeing whether you qualify. The communities that are exempt are listed on the website.
