Policeman Saves Baby

A Guardia Civil policeman based in Castro del Río (Córdoba) saved the life of a baby who had been choking.

The GC patrol in the centre of Baena came across a couple at 11.45h on Wednesday the 14th March standing beside their car trying to make their baby vomit.

The policemen saw that the child was asphyxiating from a blocked airway so one of them applied his First Aid training before rushing it to the town’s medical centre.

On the way the policeman decided to reapply emergency resuscitation as the child probably wouldn’t survive the journey and finally managed to clear the obstruction with the removal of the object that it had swallowed.

At the medical centre doctors soon confirmed that the baby had suffered no damage to its respiratory system. Both the medical staff and the parents praised the policeman’s timely intervention.
