The main opposition party in Salobreña, the PP, has racked up some body blows against the ruling party over the loss of a Paseo-de-las-Flores grant.
Well, the chance of a 90,000-euro grant conceded by the Provincial Council has been and gone, apparently and all because, consider the PP, the socialists bungled it.
The reason that the Provincial Council finally decided not to grant the money is because the Town Council closed the accounts for the 2016 budget – the socialist mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, had to work with the extended budget of 2016 until her team could finally pass the 2017 budget in June of that year by which time it was too late.
What all this means is that this emblematic paseo beneath the castle will not get its surfacing facelift, as the Town Council had proudly promised.
