On Thursday the 26th the Albuñol Town Council held an Plenary Meeting to discus the situation in the municipality’s plastic green houses – the workers are not happy.
The town is divided between the immigrant labour force, about 30% of the population and those that live off the intensive-farming sector. In the said meeting, the Town Council decided to take the side of the farmers.
All this comes after 200 greenhouse labourers went to a meeting called by a workers union (SAT) in one of the town’s squares. The meeting ended in a march through the streets with whistles and banners calling for better wages and social-security coverage.
