A man with a large knife was arrested in Motril after having threatened paramedics who had gone to his house and were trying to treat him.

The incident took place last weekend in the Varadero (Port area housing) after an ambulance arrived at 21.30h in response to a call out.

The ambulance crew at first called at the wrong door before knocking on the right one only to be greeted by a 49-year-old man armed with a very large knife, who threatened to kill them.

One of the ambulance crew ran up to the next floor and hid whilst the rest took refuge in the flat where they had originally gone by mistake. Meanwhile the knifeman hacked at the door.

When the police arrived to arrest him, they found him in his flat and the knife still impaled in the neighbour’s door.
