New Sailing School in Motril

There is a provisional parking area next to Hotel Playa Granada Club Resort in Motril that covers 1,700 sq/m, but not for long; It’s going to be a nautical club.

The Town Hall has given permission for the land to be turned into a sailing school with a lease for 19 years. The company behind the enterprise is Awa Sports S.L.

The installations will have a classroom, large storeroom and changing rooms, as well as a canteen. In return for the lease, the company will pay 1,680 euros a month to the Town Hall and will cede its classroom (with a capacity of 25 students) to the Town Hall a total of 25 hours a year.

1.680 euros mensuales y cederá el aula formativa -con capacidad para 25 personas- al Ayuntamiento para que pueda usarla con fines formativos durante 25 horas al año.

The reason that the Town Hall is keen on this is that they see it as tool in the push to counter tourism being tied down to just high season – there are plenty of reasons to visit the coast all year round; not just in summer.

One of chief activities that attract tourists to the Costa Tropical is its waters; not just for bathing on lying on a beach, but for scuba diving, surfing and kitesurfing, to name a few.
