What I like about Restaurante-Bar Casa Juan, apart from the food, is the location and setting: it is located on the Cabria Beach (Taramay) Almuñécar and set in a lush courtyard.
The crew consists of frontman Ismail and Maria Gloria, with Khalid in the kitchen, who together bring this oasis of Moroccan cuisine to Playa Cabria.
The restaurant-bar has a beautiful terrace shaded by all sorts of trees, so that you sit in this walled and shaded courtyard, insulated from the bewildering, human, beach fauna.
Casa Juan specialises in Moroccan food, which you have to pre-order and includes the delicious Moroccan stew, Tangine, as well as Pastela and, of course, Couscous. They also have a pretty complete menu covering a variety of Spanish dishes, including meat, fish and salads.
Now that autumn will soon be upon us, they will also be putting on some laid-back live music too, which is just another reason to visit Casa Juan, if the location, setting and cuisine were not enough.
