Untreated Sewage Ignored

LHR Raw Sewag on FootpathAccording to an ecologist group, the Almuñécar Town Hall was informed in July 2016 that chalets on the Punta were behind the appearance of untreated sewage along a public footpath.

The footpath in question, El Camino de los Pescaores, is the one that runs from the Punta de la Mona to the Playa del Muerto in Cotobro and is a popular walk.

Just under a year later, in April this year, and having heard nothing back from the Town Hall, the Ecologistas en Acción – Granada decided to denounce the situation before the Provincial Delegate for the Environment, asking them to intervene.

There has been no response from this provincial authority either, they complain. Consequently, the ecologist association considers it shameful that neither administration has done anything about it.

Editorial comment: the above is the opinion of the ecologist group; i.e., that the raw sewage is coming from the said chalets. This has not been confirmed, for example, by Seprona (Guardia Civil). In the ecologists’ press release it does not mention that they have brought this to the attention of Seprona, nor if they had, Seprona had confirmed the sewage does indeed come from there. However, it is hard to imagine that it can be coming from anywhere else.
