Children Saved from Drowning

SPN Sea RescueTwo adolescents, aged 11 and 14, were lucky that two Guardia Civil policemen were to hand after they had gone swimming in the sea, despite the high surf and strong current.

Needless to say, a red warning flag was flying on Cala de la Higuera in Torrevieja (Alicante) at the time of the incident.

One of the two guardsmen swam out to them, some 50 metres away, to keep them afloat and to stop them panicking because they couldn’t get back to the beach, whilst the other called in a Policia Local rescue RIB to pick the three out of the sea.

The policeman that actually went into the water, Jorge, had already responded in the same way to a similar incident not long ago.
