The Fire Department in Granada was called out to rescue a guidedog that had fallen into Rio Genil where it passes through the city – fortunately, the owner was not attached at the time.
Passersby had phoned the emergency number 112 around 18.50h yet at first it was not believed as the dog was supposedly with its blind owner like every afternoon.
When the calls continued even as late as 20.00h, they began to take the call seriously. In effect, the dog was down in the river and couldn’t help his master and the blindman was at the top of the riverbank wall and couldn’t help his dog.
A group of firemen were sent out with scaling equipment and eventually reunited the fallen with the crestfallen.
