Salobreña Cross-Country Race

SAL Cross CountryAround 1,200 competitors set out from the sports facilities at, Julio Martín Pérez for the VIII Gran Premio de Fondo Villa de Salobreña – 1,155 crossed the finishing line.

The overall winner of this cross-country event within the XXX Gran Premio de Fondo Diputación Cruzcampo was the Olympic runner from Granada, Manuel Santiago Molina on what turned out to be a sunny day. Last year it had been raining on the day.

The race covered almost ten kilometres on competely flat ground, which made it one of the fastest races within the provincial championships.

The male winner did it in 29:19 minutes whilst the second, Juan Pérez González (Granada) who won the 2016 race, crossed the line 39 seconds later. Five seconds later Abderrahim Oumaiz Mbarek crossed the line.

Of the female runners, El Amrani (Club Atletismo Maracena) crossed the line having taken 35:01 minutes, 46 seconds in front of María Dolores Diez Santaella, (Cueva de Nerja). Third over the line was Zuzana Spacirova (Clínicas Polisalud) taking 35:58 minutes.

Finally, the overall winner, Manuel Santiago Molina, also won in the provincial series in running in the Baza and Alhama heats.
