A lot of people are wondering what is happening with the new sewage-treatment plant in Nerja, none more so that the Asociación Hispano-Nórdica…
Some 25 members of this foreigners club toured the hitherto-dormant building project; work recommenced, half-heartedly in January down on Playa Burriana.
The fact is that although 80% of the construction work has been accomplished, things stood still for over 12 months, something that caused the club to express their concern.
Anyway, the Councillor for Residents, Jorge Bravo (IU), as well as the Councillor Infrastructures, José María Rivas (PSOE), took the curious foreigners on a tour, where they met up with representatives from the construction company, Isolux-Corsán-Corviam.
It’s not only the good folk of Nerja, Spaniards and foreigners alike, who are anxious for the plant to come into operation, but also their coastal neighbours, depending on which way the currents are flowing.

It never ceases to amaze me how things like this only happen in Spain.
You would have thought the powers, to be, would have made sure that this project, was completed as soon as possible knowing the serious economic effect it could have on Nerja if the national and regional press exposed this scandal. I will not go to the beach in Nerja as long as this serious threat to health exists, especially Burriana.
I think it is disgraceful that this situation has been allowed to continue for so long effecting not only Nerja but on some days, La Herradura and Marina Playa.
