A 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to land drugs on Playa de Granada in Motril on the 9th January; just over 29 kilos of hashish.

The man, who has no previous convictions, was bubbled by a witness to what he was reportedly doing, phoned the police to say that somebody was landing drugs on the said beach.

The Narcotics Department of the Policia Nacional sent a unit to the beach and found the drug consignment hidden amongst the vegetation there.

Having confiscated the drugs haul, they lost no time in arresting the suspect, who they later found at the wheel of a van, presumably as a means of transport for the drugs.

He was arrested and is being held pending an appearance before a magistrate.
