A man ploughed into a Guardia Civil road block that had been set up to stop him from continuing the wrong way down the A-92 autovia near Guadix.

The man had already driven 40 kilometres and was taking no notice of the police signalling him, which was why they hoped the cars across the road would get him to stop – instead, he rammed into them, and there is no way that he hadn’t seen them in time.

The nobody was seriously hurt and the man appeared to have mental issues when he was first questioned and then exhibited the same incoherence later, before the Justice of the Peace.

The police had tried to question him in the Guardia Civil post in Guadix, but nobody could make sense of what he was saying.

The driver, who is from Senegal but possesses a French passport, was first spotted at the level of the municipality of Abla in Almeria. Along the way the police attempted to stop him, but he simply dodged them, according to the Guardia Civil.

They set up several police cars across the lanes at kilometre-point 295, which is level with Guadix. The car sped on and hit the barrier made of patrol cars and ended up in a ditch.
