The Mayor of Motril has issue a municipal band stating the following:

“On the 29th of December, 90% of the business owners in the area affected by traffic restrictions [town centre] have requested a temporary end to these measures, claiming that they have suffered a loss in sales.

In the view of the request and with the powers invested in me I order the lifting of the restrictions on vehicles on the streets indicated on the map on www.motril.es, except during special activities connected with the Christmas festivities.”

So, it looks like the pedestrians-only, town centre experiment has been shelves, at least for the time being.
