screen-shot-2016-10-23-at-15-17-55A man has been arrested after a woman in her 40’s was found dead in her home in Granada capital. The woman was of Bolivian decent whilst the man hails from Ecuador. The Homocide Division of the National Police has opened an investigation.

The woman was found on Saturday night (22nd October) after a call from a man to the 112 emergency services line, saying that he had found the woman dead on the floor of the premises in Veronica de la Magdalena in the centre of Granada.

On their arrival they observed signs of violence on the woman’s body and placed the man under arrest. One neighbor did mention that this, “was not the first time the police have been to the dwelling”. The neighbour said that they had heard nothing and only saw the coffin being carried from the premises.

It appears that the police response to the initial 112 call was prompt and all the relevant authorities for unexplained deaths were notified immediately, culminating the the removal of the deceased to await an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

In the meantime, the police will not comment any further until the  result of the autopsy is known, they will however, maintain a presence at the dwelling to seek any further evidence and interview the arrested man.

Naturally the immediate thoughts are towards domestic violence, a hypothesis that is not ruled out, since the death occurred under suspicious circumstances. The man will remain in custody awaiting clarification on what happened.
