A Plenary Meeting of the Almuñécar Town Council has approved the cancellation of the present lease for the municipal-market, underground car park. Three parties voted in favour and two, PA and PSOE, voted against.
This action comes after four years of legal wrangling in the law courts between the Town Hall and the company that holds the lease for the parking facilities, awarded by the Benavides administration. The judge decided in the Town Hall’s favour; hence this conclusive move approved at the Plenary Meeting.
The cessation of the previous lease comes with a request for a 4m-euro compensation fee to be paid by the said leaseholders to the Town Hall.
Also dealt with at the meeting were two other points; one to act as a go-between in the dispute between the beach buildings under threat of demolition and the Junta de Andalucia.
The other point was for a study to be carried on the P-4 concerning an enlargement of the Lidl supermarket building.
