Lost, Found & Arrested

and-naughty-suitcase-onlThe Policía Nacional arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of drugs – not so unusual in itself, but in this specific case, it certainly was.

The man, who has a criminal record for this sort of thing, came unstuck, thanks to forgetting his suitcase at a bus station. A private security guard who had put the case into lost luggage informed the Policia Nacional of its existence.

A couple of days passed and the owner turned up asking for the case, so the security guard informed the police and they popped around for the collection by the owner.

Trouble was was that his ID was in the suitcase and therefore he had to open it in front of the policemen and lo… there on top of the folded clothes were two packages of hashish labelled and ready for sale.

gra-bus-station-interior-onlJust to clarify, nobody other than the man knew what was in the case and if he had had ID in his wallet instead of the case, he wouldn’t have had to open it. The only reason that the police were notified of the lost case was because of the times in which we live concerning terrorism, but as far as the police were concerned, they just wanted the man to prove that the case was his.

So, there we were with three people looking down at the drugs, two smiling, and one silently weeping… Naturally, a few questions came to mind, especially after checking back with the police control room it became clear that the suspect was not adverse to be naughty.

Before you could say, “you won’t be needing a bus today,” he was whisked away, together with the traitorous suitcase and charged.
