Market Work Delay

SAL Market Interior OnLThe announced work on Salobreña market, scheduled to start in February, has been postponed until April.

This second timetable is the fruit of an agreement between the Town Hall and stall holders.

According to Radio Salobreña, the original idea was to start work at the beginning of last month; i.e., just after the New Year. However, owing to several modifications to the original project it was postponed until February.

The trouble with the February start date was that work in the market would completely coincide with Easter in March when the village is full of tourists; hence this latest change.

The new start day is the 1st of April – no comments, please!

The reason for carrying out this work, as you might recall from a previous article of ours, is to bring the installations into line with current health-&-safety regulations, which, as you can imagine, have changed quite a lots since the market was built 20 years ago.

The best part, however, will be an underground car park beneath the building to accommodate 32 vehicles.
