The Policía Nacional in Motril have arrested two foreigners accused of selling bogus items of gold jewellery on the Costa Tropical and in Granada.

All told, eight jewellers’ shops were taken in by the alleged swindlers, who had simply gold-coated the pieces and had bagged 9,000 euros for their efforts from the purchasers.

The arrested suspects had already ‘worked’ the provincial capital and Almuñécar and were supposedly planning on trying their luck in jewellers’ in Motril and El Ejido in Almería.

The press-release from the Policía Nacional does not specify the nationality of the arrested persons, only stating that they were extranjeros.
