Motril Port’s New Connection

MOT FRS Kattegat OnLA new freight, shipping company, FRS, will be operating out of Motril Port, plying between Motril and Tangiers.

The Chairman of the Motril Port Authority, Sr. Álvarez de la Chica, described this news as “historic.”

Operations will begin in the second half of this month with the arrival of FRS Kattegat, which will make daily trips between the two ports.

Sr. Alvarez described the move as an excellent opportunity for business on the Costa Tropical and Granada inland.

Motril Port, with its new road communication, provides a more direct route to Madrid than Málaga and Almería, which translates into cheaper road-haulage costs.

FRS has made a name for itself operating in the Straits of Gibraltar, not only for freight, but also for passenger traffic, moving some 1.7m passengers and 400,000 vehicles during 2015 across the straits.
