Starting Monday the 28th, Almuñécar will see Avenida Juan Carlos I closed for roadworks; we’re talking about the beach end.
The works will mean that the avenue from the Calle Hurtado de Mendoza roundabout (the Sol Bank one) down to the beach road will be closed to traffic.
The work will including linking up the new Plaza de Madrid and beach-road sewage and rain-drain system to the ones about to be laid in the said section of Avenida Juan Carlos I.
Obviously, with this part of a main thoroughfare being closed to traffic, it should be fun! For example, the roadworks traffic lights next to Las Góndolas will be set up again. Whoopee, can’t wait!
On a positive note, you will be able to access the beach road via Calle Helga Shonell from Alcalde Julio Fajardo and the Paseo del Altillo, assured Councillor for Public Works, José Manuel Fernández.
Councillor Fernández explained that they are starting now to avoid “important dates,” meaning Christmas and Easter, perhaps, because, Autumn is the season with most bank-holiday weekends – anybody with a kid at schools knows this – the first one being the 12th of October. (Dia de la Hispanidad).
Cheer up, because when this one’s finished, they will start on the section from the Hurtado de Mendoza roundabout up to Calle Málaga!
