The Partido Andalucista approved its own disbanding, effective immediately after the 2019 municipal elections. This delay is so as not to leave elected PA councillors in the last elections (a total of 319) without party support.
In the voting during an Extraordinary Meeting of the party, held in Torremolinos, 78.3% voted to this end, thus ending 50 years of existence.
The main reason for this decision, perhaps, was when the party failed to obtain a single seat in the Andalusian Parliament, coupled with progressively worse election results.
During the party’s history, they managed to even obtain representation in the European Parliament, as well as five seats in the national Parliament in Madrid.
On a local, Almuñécar note, Juan Carlos Benavides recently transferred to the soon-to-be defunct party in time for the 2015 Municipal Elections, bringing his fellow CA councillors with him.
The question is, what is he going to do now?
