Vintage Car Meet in Motril

MOT Vintage Car MeetThe weekend of the 19th and 20th of September will see the XV Romantic Car Meet -Costa Tropical, in Motril at the Plaza de la Coronación.

But apart from being parked on the said square, the participating vehicles will also cruise around town, taking in: Avenida Salobreña, Calle Cuevas, Calle Santísimo, Calle Las Cruces and Calle Nueva before returning to the square. The parade takes place at 19.30h on the Saturday.

The event is organised by the Club de Vehículos Románticos de la Costa Tropical, which is based in Motril but if you have a such a car and want to participate, then you must put your name down by Saturday 16.00h in the square.

Folks are bringing their veteran and vintage cars not only from all over Andalucía, but also from other areas of Spain.

The next day, Sunday, from 09.00h to 11.30h the cars will be shown again in the the square before setting off on another tour, but this time taking in Torrenueva and Calahonda – they’ll be stopping off at the Don Cactus campsite in El Llano for a nibble and tipple and having reached Calahonda, will head back to Motril for lunch at Restaurante Katena.

The organisers are expecting some 90 cars, including at least one Citröen 5HP, affectionately known here in Spain as the Culo de Pato (Duck’s Arse), which dates back to 1925.

Sounds like fun and a great opportunity to browse over the assembled fleet of venerable cars!
