Volunteers in Salobreña have been giving a lesson in civic spirit by selflessly using the spare time to clear debris from the beaches.
Their objective is not to supplant the municipal cleaning services, but to help them out. In other words, the motivation behind the actions is not to highlight a possible tardiness in the cleaning operations but purely to lend a hand so that the task can be completed sooner because the image that the town projects is important to them.
This is not the first time that locals have been moved to give a helping out as back in 2012 volunteers were involved in clearing up the Playa del Gambullón.
The volunteers on this occasion organised themselves into groups working in shifts, putting the debris into rubbish bags, which are then removed by the municipal cleaning services.
Volunteers can be seen in the accompanying photo cleaning up Playa de La Cagailla.
Wind and high water might cause them to interrupt their task but they won’t stop until all the beaches are cleared of debris.
Ole vuestros huevos!
