The Motril municipal police have received a whole herd of new vehicles – they are happy bunnies.
The Mayor, Flor Almón, expressed her contentment as, she says, the acquisition of the new cars, etc. was testament to her administration’s pledge to beef up the municipal police department.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety, María Ángeles Escámez, explained that when the lease of the existing police vehicles recently expired, she had taken out a new lease on more modern vehicles for the next 40 months, all of which are fully equipped.
“Our police officers now have eleven vehicles with which to carry out their policing tasks,” said Sra Escámez. As well as the existing Nissan Pathfinder, there are seven patrol cars and one unmarked police vehicle. They’re all Citroën ‘C4 Picasso.
The police will also soon have a van; a Citroën Jumpy to join the existing police van.
The vehicle leasing company, Leaseplan, won the bid to provide the police-vehicle fleet.
