A Granada law court has accepted the aval (bank guarantee) presented by the neighbourhood association for Carmenes del Mar in La Herradura.
They consider it “sufficient security” for the “precautionary measures” to stabilize the existing urban structures on the unstable hillside to go ahead – as decreed in a previous court sentence last summer.
The judge ordered in November 2014 that the defendants (building developers and involved architects etc) should finance the said work, which will cost approximately 4.5m euros. He also set a precautionary embargo of 3.6m euros against them. However, the accused have lodged an appeal.
The Spokesman for the property owners, Ricardo López, explained that the stabilization work could not wait for the drawn out legal process to conclude; i.e., a judicial decision on the appeal, and that it needed to be done as soon as possible.
