The fire crew had been called out to tackle a fire in a somebody’s kitchen, but whilst they were out, there was a fire in the station’s own kitchen.
The incident occurred in Guadalajara on a Tuesday night. They had received an emergency call because a frying-pan fire had set a kitchen alight somewhere in the town, so off they bravely rushed and quickly dispatched the cowering fire.
After packing away the hoses and patting themselves on the back they returned to the station find that the crew-room kitchen had suffered a fire, as well.
How did it happen? They had been preparing their supper when they received the call and in their haste to leave had forgotten about the food on the stove.
Neighbours had seen the smoke coming from the station but had thought that it had been an exercise – I mean, you don’t expect a fire in a fire station, do you?
They Mayor wasn’t happy… or perhaps he secretly was because the town firemen had been protesting before the Town Hall recently about a pay rise and better equipment…
