Mayor of Almuñécar Harassed by Workers

ALM Mayor Almuñécar OnLThe Mayor of Almuñécar was not happy about the reception given by the workers from Turismo Tropical, who were not exactly mute in their criticism.

It appears that a group of workers from Turismo Tropical were waiting for here when she was about to enter a cafeteria. Such was the rumpus that the Guardia Civil had to intervene, in what the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera described as “personal harassment.”

The same workers had organized a pitada (whistle blowing protest) outside the town-hall builders moments before.

The protesters decided to go to where the Mayor habitually has breakfast after a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council. She was greeted with booing and insults.

“Everybody has the right to demonstrate,” she said, “but between that and harassment there is a big difference and I will not allow it.”

She said that she was surprised by the attitude of the said workers as she had always supported them, but she reiterated that the Town Hall has nothing whatsoever to do with the dispute.
