Vandals Use Dogs on Park Wildlife

SAL Park Vandalism OnLOn the last weekend of February, vandals broke into the Parque Fuente de la Villa in Salobreña, forcing the fence, before breaking the padlocks on the animal cages.

Their booty was rabbits, chicks, guinea pigs, etc, but not content with the damage to the installations, they also let dogs loose inside the cages, killing 15 animals and seriously injuring several others.

When the municipal police and park keepers arrived it was to find the surviving animals loose, mutilated by the dogs’ jaws.

The Councillor for the Environment, Martín Valenzuela, described the scene as “Dantesque,” saying that the physical damage to the park was nothing compared to the cruelty wrought upon the animals.

The municipal police are investigating the incident and are asking locals for their cooperation to find the culprits.
